Sinaloa, Mexico . . . haunting deserts, hot nights, and vampires, who’ve been there for hundreds of years, watching from the shadows, playing their games, manipulating humans, and surviving at any cost.

Vincent Kuxim, powerful and charismatic, was made vampire by an ambitious leader looking for soldiers to pave his way to the rule of all Mexico. But more than a century later, Vincent’s Sire is looking over his shoulder as Vincent closes in for the kill, ready to claim the title Lord of Mexico for himself.

Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter, smart, beautiful, and determined to chart her own future. So when the most powerful vampire lord in all of North America enlists her help in tracking down a very old and elusive bloodsucker, Lana sees nothing but opportunity. There’s only one catch. The client wants her to take Vincent—a vampire she neither knows nor trusts—along on her hunt. Then again, maybe it’s herself she doesn’t trust, because Vincent Kuxim is sex walking in a pair of tight black jeans.

Thrown together by circumstance, Vincent and Lana soon find themselves battling an evil they didn’t know existed in a fight that makes Vincent all the more determined to destroy his Sire, seize Mexico for himself . . . and keep Lana by his side forever.

D.B releases another fun installment to the ViA series with another confident and suave Vamp and strong, capable heroine...

If you're a fan of the series, you know that the entire continent of North America has been being re-vamped (pun intended) under the watchful eye of Raphael. Alliances are being created, Lords who don't think the way Raphael and his allies do eliminated, bad seeds exterminated. While not all of the Lords are 'friends', most at least respect one another, however, at the last few summits, Enrique, Lord of Mexico, has been less than respectful...

Enrique's lieutenant, Vincent, has never really gotten along with Enrique, but he has a special bond with him and hasn't really wanted to rule. He's comfortable assisting where needed, and keeping to himself with his right hand guy, Michael. Unfortunately, a personal request from Raphael not only rocks Vincent's world, but it also introduces him to a smart, sexy, and strong bounty hunter named Lana.

Vincent has plenty of action, another heroine that I adore (I cannot wait for the next Mates Club read!), surprises, and more, and the ending set up the series for some interesting turns. I foresee some interesting times ahead with each and every Lord now in play with uber interesting interaction between them all.

If you haven't tried the VAMPIRES IN AMERICA series yet, you really should. It's fantastic and I highly recommend it!

[Archive] LITERAL ADDICTION's Review of Deadly Obsession

Maggie Shayne: It was a sleepless night spent caring for a sick baby that jump-started New York Times Bestselling Author Maggie Shayne’s writing career.

A voracious reader and prolific writer from childhood, Maggie found herself without a book to read while coddling the colicky child. So instead she began spinning a tale of her own, creating a plotline that evolved in her thoughts until, a few days later, she sat down and wrote the story in longhand.

Now the author of more than forty novels, ranging from stories about Witches, vampires, psychics and ghosts, to bone chilling, edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense and beyond. The genres she has mastered include women’s fiction, category romance, romantic suspense, and paranormal fiction. Maggie has honed her lyrical prose and made a name for herself on the New York Times, USA Today, Amazon.com, B.Dalton, Booksense, Ingram’s, Barnes and Noble, and Waldenbooks (where she reached #1) bestseller lists.

Maggie is the winner of numerous awards, including two Romantic Times Bookclub Career Achievement Awards, the National Readers Choice Award, and the coveted RITA Award, for which she was nominated twelve times before finally winning.

She has also written for CBS daytime dramas, Guiding Light and As the World Turns. One of Maggie’s novels, Eternity, has been optioned for film.

Deadly Obsession
BROWN & DE LUCA Book #4

Buy from Amazon / B&N / iTunes / Kobo

A cold-blooded killer with a burning obsession…

Rachel de Luca has a bad feeling about the new woman in Detective Mason Brown's life, the nurse taking care of him after he's injured in the line of duty. She'd like to think it's just jealousy, but intuition tells her it's something more, maybe something dangerous.

Mason knows Rachel's wary of commitment, and asking her to stay when he's in this condition would be the worst thing for their relationship. Then they receive chilling news that drives everything else from their minds.

Mason's psychotic sister-in-law has escaped from custody, putting her sons — the nephews he's raising — in the crosshairs. When his house is burned to the ground, he and Rachel are relieved that there are no bodies in the smoldering rubble, but now his nephews are missing and the clock is ticking.

As Mason and Rachel try to find the boys, she senses a new and unexpected danger stalking them. Soon, everyone close to Mason is in deadly peril — Rachel more than anyone….

If you haven't had a chance to devour the Brown & de Luca books yet, I cannot recommend them strongly enough. I will say right off, however, that Deadly Obsession should not be read as a standalone novel. You really need to read the series in order to truly appreciate the arc of the story and the nuances of the characters. And speaking of characters, Rachel de Luca is easily, hands down, one of my absolute favorite heroines of all time (and I read A LOT). :)

It's going to be tough for me to write a review for this book without spoilers, because so much as happened within the series to lead the reader to Deadly Obsession, and so much happens within the book that cannot be easily relayed without spoilers. So I'll do my best to give you an idea of the fantastic nature of this book in a vague enough way that I don't ruin it for you...

Detective Mason Brown and New Age Author guru Rachel DeLuca have been through a lot. Murders, mystery, kidnappings, instal-chemistry, fighting their feelings, and more. Their relationship is at a high point in Deadly Obsession though, and they FINALLY realize the depth of their feelings. Rachel's still fighting it, after all, it's in her nature to do so, but Mason has given in and to see them slide comfortably into that is a beautiful thing after wanting to smack each of them in previous books.

As per usual, there's plenty of murder, mayhem, thrills and chills and mystery in Deadly Obsession. This time, it's a bit of an homage to Fatal Attraction, but even better. Rachel's heightened sixth-sense is on high alert from the get go, but she's not entirely sure she can trust what she's feeling, and a series of events force Mason, Rachel and those closest to them to realize that life and time are precious, and good things should be grabbed with two hands and held on to for dear life.

Like I mentioned it's very hard to say more without ruining any of it. Let me just say that the entire Brown & de Luca series is fantastic - a wickedly funny, action-packed, dangerous, mysterious, beautifully plotted, well-written and slightly romantic thrill-ride that will have you glued to the pages of each and every installment. Deadly Obsession was the perfect conclusion to the series, and I highly recommend it and its predecessors to everyone!

[Archive] LITERAL ADDICTION's Review of Good Girls Don't

Rosalie Lario is the award-winning, paranormal romance author of the Demons of Infernum and the Fallen Warriors series. Rosalie double majored in Anthropology and Classics as an undergraduate student, and briefly considered becoming an archaeologist before realizing they don’t actually live the life of Indiana Jones. So what was a classical geek armed with a lot of useless knowledge to do? Become a lawyer, of course!

After attending law school in Florida, she practiced real estate law for several years before finally admitting to herself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. She never imagined all the mythology she’d learned throughout her undergraduate education might actually come in handy, but it makes perfect fodder for the paranormal romance stories she now dreams up.

When not writing, you can find her on a boat somewhere along South Florida’s waterways, chasing down a rainbow or pretending to be a pirate.

Good Girls Don't
EVERLY BROTHERS Book #2

Buy from Amazon / B&N / Kobo / iTunes
Good girls don’t do one-night stands…

If there’s one thing Lyssa Rivera knows, it’s that good girls don’t do one-night stands. But it only takes a few hours in the company of sexy businessman, James Everly, to change her mind. All she wants is a night of sin with the man who’s admittedly way out of her league. Then she can go back to being painfully, boringly good.

James Everly doesn’t do relationships, not after the horrible example set by his parents. When he meets a luscious, irresistible woman at his favorite bar, he’s more than ready to show her a night of ecstasy, but that’s all it could ever be. He certainly never plans on seeing her again. Yet when he shows up at his meeting the next morning to woo a venture capitalist, he’s shocked to find his competition is the very woman whose bed he just left.

James knows he should stay away. He’s no good at long term, and that’s what a woman like Lyssa deserves. But as the two vie for the investor’s attention, he finds himself struggling to choose between the family business and the woman whose touch makes him burn with desire.

Hotter than Wild Girls Rule (book #1 of the Everly Brothers series), Rosalie Lario pens another fun and sexy billionaire romance and proves that being naughty is sometimes exactly what a good girl needs.

Good Girls Don't was a super steamy erotic contemporary full of 'lose yourself to the passion' sexy moments, liquifying dirty-talk, and emotion. I will admit that I'm not usually one for the dirty talk or the rough stuff, but this book made me rethink that a bit. There's just something uber sexy about losing yourself like that and allowing that part of yourself you didn't even think you had inside of you to emerge. The best part, was that Rosalie wrote the book in such a way that you got to experience the passion and surprise right alongside the characters. Plenty of 'wow, where did that come from' moments, followed by, 'holy hell that was hot'. :)

The conflict of the tale was stellar, as well. What would YOU do if you gave in to desire and had a one-night stand with a sexy someone, only to find out that they were your biggest competition for the business deal that would completely change your life?

Rosalie Lario proves once again that she is becoming in a league of her own when it comes to sexy brothers and their significant others. I can't wait for Sam's book and I highly recommend this series! They read just fine as stand-alones, but I definitely recommend Wild Girls Rule, it was incredible.
